I have seedlings emerging! A plant grows in Media, Pennsylvania. Ha! I’ve been growing flowers and veg from seed for many, many years and I still get the same thrill every time I see those tiny bits of green. It’s so life affirming to me and it gives me endless amounts of joy. Hand & Flower is on its way!

Willow is being spayed today. I’m on edge because of it and won’t be relieved until I have her back here.

I’ve kept myself busy by trying to organize my little office/studio. It used to be a porch off the side of our house that we enclosed and aside from the radiant heat we installed under the floor there is no other heat source. I try to think of it as cryogenics. Being out there during winter is keeping me young. I dream of having a Swedish fireplace out there, one day.

Thursday, 25 January

I slept in a human sized dog bed, last night. What was I thinking? I’m paying for it today but I didn’t want to leave Willow alone. She has a huge cone she’s wearing so crating isn’t an option for her until we get a smaller cone. She can’t maneuver inside her crate.

The electricians were here, working on the bathroom. Willow and I were imprisoned in the kitchen for the day in order to keep her calm. She would have tried to “help” the electricians at every passing opportunity, otherwise. Even with sedatives this pup is full of energy.

Shepherds pie and peas for dinner. The electricians didn’t leave until 5:30. I never thought they’d go! Maybe they were hoping for a dinner invite?

Friday, 26 January

So grateful for the weekend. Slept in that dog bed again last night. Was exhausted from the lack of sleep.

Saturday, 27 January

Ordered a few more dahlias. Bracken Palomino and Sarah, Irish Ruffles and Wizard of Oz. One of these days I’ll put out the entire list of what I’ll be offering in terms of dahlias later, this year. It’s going to be gorgeous!

Sunday, 28 January

Spent a few moments walking around the garden and taking mental notes of what needs to be done in the very near future. The ground isn’t frozen at all. It’s too muddy to weed so I’ll wait a few days for things to dry out a bit. More tulips and daffodils are popping up.

Back in my own bed, this evening, for sure. Even Willow wants to be in her crate again. We’re both craving our pre-spay routine.

Hope you’re having a lovely week!
