In two weeks, I will be leaving for London. I am looking forward to spending nearly a week there on my own. I’m feeling both excited and a little sad because my son will have left for camp on the day I return. It will be the first time I won’t see him for two weeks, and I’m feeling a bit anxious about it.
I have all my concerts, tours, and exhibits booked. Aside from seeing Taylor Swift it’s a week of culture. Very dull, very me.
Spent some time deadheading peonies and roses, and harvested flowers and foliage to be prepared for a couple of jars going out tomorrow.
Tuesday, 04 June
My last day volunteering for the school candy sale this year was quite peaceful without the seniors. However, I must say, they did keep me entertained. Let’s see what the incoming seniors bring this September.
More harvesting for jars going out tomorrow and a delivery this evening.
Wednesday, 05 June
Awake at 5:30 this morning, flowering, for a delivery to a school in Chadds Ford. It was a nice way to start my day.
My son was off today. It was heaven not to have to battle the parking lot of his school. Less than a week to go!
No gardening done today. The humidity was awful. It’s meant to rain later and I hope it does. We need it. It’ll give me a break from watering. Definitely need to hook up the drip hoses. They’re a lifesaver.
Thursday, 07 June
The sweet peas are finally starting. I usually plant earlier varieties along with my usuals but this year I didn’t. It felt like they would never bloom. Back to adding in the earlies next year!
Saturday, 07 June
Spent a few minutes chopping back my lemon balm. It reseeds itself so its all over the garden. I like to use it in arrangements for me, as it can be a bit fussy and wilt for what seems like no reason at all. The scent is delicious. I also like it for tisane.
Most of the daffodils have died back so I spent a fair amount of time clearing the bed where they live. There are two large holly trees that like to shed all over the place so it’s not joyful at all to clean up that area. I got a good amount done, though, and I’ll finish in a week or so if the rest of the leaves die back before I head to London.
Sunday, 08 June
Spent the entire day weeding the dahlia garden. I can already tell this garden is going to be my nemesis. I’ve never seen weeds grow back so quickly.
