Although it seems impossible we are now in the second half of the year and summer is in full swing. The lazy, hazy days. Zinnias are blooming and the dahlias aren’t far behind.

Sweet peas are slowly fading but not before leaving behind the gift of seed that will be sown in the autumn to begin their growing cycle again.
Throughout the garden, herbs warmed by the sun perfume the air. Basil, mint, lavender and rosemary create a symphony of scent.
When I close my eyes and inhale I can almost believe I’m in the South of France. Almost.

But even though we’re in high summer plans for next year’s garden are taking place. Seeds have already been purchased, and bulbs, corms, and roots have been ordered.
Fireflies commence their evening light show just as the sun sets for the day. It’s heaven to be still and watch for a while, basking in the peace and quiet.
With the heat and humidity comes a slower pace, and I’m completely embracing it because before we know it autumn will be here and summer will feel like a distant memory.
Have a beautiful July!
