Monday, 10 June
One week until London! I’m starting to pack…I’m not taking much because I need the space in my suitcase to bring stuff back. I usually try to travel with only hand baggage, anymore, but this calls for something larger.
Harvested flowers and foliage for the final end of school year jar going out. I guess the year is officially over! Cue the Alice Cooper!
Tuesday, 11 June
My son’s last day of school. He had a great year. Played freshman basketball, top 10 percent of his class and completed his national Latin examination with cum laude honors. I’m so proud of him. The time flew by fast. I’m grateful for the break, though. Maybe things will slow down a bit?
Friday, 14 June
Weeding. I’m trying to stay ahead of them so when I come back I won’t be greeted by a jungle. We’re meant to get some hot weather here, next week, but no rain in the forecast so there’s that. I’m praying I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Found the first zinnia today. A lot of buds are starting to open and as much as it pains me I’m going to cut them back before I leave. With any luck I’ll have flowers closer to being ready to harvest by the time I get back. I’m leaning towards having jars or small bouquets available for Fourth of July.

Happy Father’s Day! Had dinner with the boys and my father in law. Low key but nice.

If your son just finished his freshman year successfully, Congratulations! Don’t expect things to slow down with him, your whirlwind of parenting his just begun. Through the ups and downs of parenting, just keep the faith. My son just celebrated his first father’s day with his son and wife and I never would have believed what a wonderful father he has become. Your zinnias are beautiful. Here’s hoping the seeds will migrate to Broomall!
