Happy Labor Day! What a fantastic day it was today. The weather was absolutely perfect for September – sunny, unseasonably cool, and not a drop of rain in sight. Spent most of the day pottering around in the garden.
The peony foliage is starting to fade. It won’t be long before I trim them back. I still have about twenty more to relocate from the annual garden to their permanent home in the peony garden. I’m not sure there’s room which makes me a bit nervous.
Wednesday, 04 September
I’m thrilled that I’ve officially launched the Hand & Flower subscription program for next year, and the response has been fantastic! It’s such a relief to see the positive reception. The sale will kick off on Black Friday. I’m not sure how many people I’ll take on, yet. I need to wait until I receive my tulip bulbs. There have been shortages over the past few years. Hopefully none of the varieties I chose will be affected!
Thursday, 05 September
My son started back to school today. Bittersweet. I’m sort of grateful for the routine, again. I’ve been getting Willow ready for the change by waking her earlier in the morning. She’s so much easier to take out when it’s still dark outside. No more hour walks before having her morning wee.
Saturday, 07 September
Spent a delicious day with friends at the Cassatt exhibition at the Museum of Art.
We then made our way over to The Rittenhouse for tea at the Cassatt Tea Room with a brief stop along the way to Metropolitan Baker.
Tuesday, 10 September
One year with Willow! Spoiled this one for her gotcha day.
Our home is so much livelier and joyful with her around. She needs a friend, though. It may be time to think about adopting another puppy. Willow will definitely be a fantastic big sister.
Wednesday, 11 September
I can barely recall what I ate yesterday but I can remember everything that happened in vivid detail on September 11, 2001. It’s still as real and emotional as it was all those years ago. Feeling very reflective today.
I spent some time weeding the gardens before heading over to my son’s old grade school to help with lunch. As much of a serial volunteer as I am, I really do get a lot out of it. I guess its just how I’m wired.
Friday, 13 September
What a day. Had the wrong Costco membership card AND credit card on me but fortunately I had enough cash to get my rotisserie chicken. Can’t not get the chicken!
Then my tire went flat on the ride home. Didn’t do much else, today, out of an abundance of caution. Ha!
Sunday, 14 September
The second raised bed is completed. I’ve planted stock and scabiosa in it, for next spring. The first bed will house tulips once the bulbs arrive. And maybe ranunculus if there’s any additional space.
