Monday, 8 July – Friday, 12 July

The heat pretty much has me doing very little in the garden. Harvesting in the early morning along with removing errant weeds along the way. Rinse and repeat in the evening.

Most of the garden now has drip irrigation so I’ve gained back a fair amount of time. Next week we’ll install a bit more in the beds where the sunflowers are. I planted loads so I should have plenty for my events at the end of September and extras to spare.

Finally started to lay down the paths in the peony garden. It’s so overgrown I’m doing it a little at a time. The toads are loving it in there, though. I almost feel bad removing their habitat but I’m purchasing some toad houses for them.

A barbecue at our lovely neighbor’s house, this evening. It was hot but we retreated inside for cake and it was so nice to be in real air conditioning. I didn’t want to leave!

Sunday, 14 July

Stormy weather was predicted but all we got was the thunder and lightning. No rain at all. Very disappointed about it. It’s amazing what rain water does for the plants. There is always a visible difference in them afterwards.

I took time today to work on the quarterly newsletter. I made significant progress by adding a sign-up on the site’s homepage. I have everything pretty much set up now and I can focus on the more enjoyable stuff like writing. I can’t believe I figured it out on my own. I’m very pleased with myself!

Hope you have a lovely week!
