Monday, 06 May

Today we were blessed with beautiful weather. I’m beginning the preparations for the Mother’s Day flowers I’m selling at Holy Myrrh Bearers in Swarthmore, on Saturday. Jars have been washed, early peonies are getting very close to harvesting. I’m excited.

Wednesday, 08 May

An early morning thunderstorm gave the garden a tiny drink. Y dog, Willow, didn’t care for the noise. Poor thing. She coped by curling up in my bed.

Much warmer today. And so humid. Spent some time weeding later in the day. Harvested a few peonies and put them in the cooler. A couple of corals and lemon chiffon.

Thursday, 09 May

My stock and snapdragon are finally showing signs of buds. Next year I’ll definitely plant them out a bit earlier. I may try to autumn sew the snapdragons, as well, for an earlier harvest.

Harvested and currently conditioning all the filler and foliage to go along with the tulips and peonies for flower jars. I’ll assemble everything tomorrow night.

I’m a bit under the weather today. I volunteer with young kids on Mondays and I’m sure that’s where I picked up whatever I have. The timing isn’t good. But it gives me an excuse to curl up in bed with Willow and binge on Mr. Bates vs. The Post Office. Anyone else watching this?

Friday, 10 May

Jars finished. Stress and worry begin.

Saturday, 11 May

Today’s weather was perfect, for the most part. A bit windy but the sun was shining. My jars sold out. I’m super happy about that and proud of myself. I have a few ideas to make some improvements for the next time I do another sale. The main thing being a sign asking people not to fondle the flowers. They couldn’t stop touching them. Everyone thought they were artificial. It was funny. I also need to remember to put on sunscreen.

Ended the day by fighting the battle of King of Prussia and treating myself to a new scarf. A Mother’s Day gift from me to me!

Sunday, 12 May

Happy Mother’s Day to those who celebrate! Had a very low key lunch with my family at home. Hymie’s So good. We originally planned to go out but changed our minds. It was a good decision. Spent the evening diving into Sean A. Pritchard’s book, Outside In. It’s gorgeous. Highly recommend.

Hope you have a lovely week!
